Composer's Biography
Zarif Kerimova
Zarif Kerimova was born in Azerbaijan (Baku), in 1983, in musicians’ family. Her father was a musicologist and her mother is pianist. From childhood she grew up in atmosphere of love to music and art. When she was 6 years old she started to learn piano and composition at children music school. Her first performance with National Symphonic Orchestra was when she was 8 years old. After graduated children music school, Zarif entered to the Music school-studio under Baku Music Academy, where she studied piano, music theory and harmony. In 2000 she entered to the Baku Music Academy, where she studied piano. Her teacher was the famous pianist Rafik Kuliyev. From 2003 until 2007 she studied composition. Her teacher was the world famous composer Arif Melikov. Now she usually performs at the concerts her own compositions and pieces of Baroque, Classical and 20th century music. Her music compositions are played by different music collectives. Now Zarif Kerimova works at Baku Music Academy.
