Composer's Biography
Monica Lynn
Monica Lynn’s music has been performed throughout the United States with additional premieres in China, France, Italy, Serbia and South Korea. Lynn’s recent appearances include Featured Guest Composer for The Ninth Annual Woman Composers Festival at University of Hartford in Hartford, Connecticut and Guest Speaker for the New York Treble Singers in New York City. Lynn recently graduated with the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Composition and World Music from University of California, Santa Cruz after earning her Master of Music degree in Composition at University of Missouri, Kansas City. Composition professors include David Cope, Karlton Hester, James Mobberley, Chen Yi and Forrest Pierce. In addition to her academic work, Monica pursued composition studies at Festival MusicAlp, Courchevel Academie Internationale de Musique, in Courchevel, France as well as the European American Musical Alliance, Ecole Normale de Musique, in Paris, France. In the studio of composer Michel Merlet during both festivals, Lynn explored the compositional techniques of Merlet and his mentor, Olivier Messiaen. Recent honors include awards from ASCAP, the Brevard Institute and the European American Musical Alliance. Monica Lynn also served as 2008-10 President of NACUSA San Francisco Chapter, Administrative Associate of the 2009 UCSC/ISIM Festival and Conference at the University of California, 2011-2013 Board Member At-Large for National Association of Composers USA and Director of Fundraising for Interdisciplinary Artists Aggregation, Inc.
